Terpendole I is a fungal metabolite that has been found in A. yamanashiensis. It is a weak inhibitor of acyl-coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT; IC = 145 µM) and is active against the bacteria B. cereus and B. subtilis (MICs = 100 µg/ml for both) but not S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, or K. pneumoniae (MICs = >200 µg/ml for all) or the fungus C. albicans (MIC = 200 µg/ml). It is cytotoxic to HeLa cells with an IC value of 52.6 µM.
Terpendole I is a fungal indole diterpenoid and an ACAT inhibitor (IC50 = 145 µM). Terpendole I can be used in studies related to lipid metabolism.

Terpenpole I can weakly inhibit ACAT activity in rat liver microsomes, with an IC50 of 145 μM.
Terpendole I (1 mg/mL (10 μg/paper disk); 24 hours (bacteria); 48 hours (fungi, yeast) showed no antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria, fungi, and yeast.
