HNMPA is a cell impermeable tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks receptor serine and tyrosine phosphorylation, including insulin receptor tyrosine kinase activity. It does not affect protein kinase C or cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase activities. HNMPA inhibits the insulin-stimulated autophosphorylation of the 95-kDa β-subunit of the insulin receptor with an IC value of 200 µM in vitro.

HNMPA is a membrane impermeable insulin receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor. HNMPA inhibits serine and tyrosine autophosphorylation by the human insulin receptor. HNMPA has no effect on protein kinase C or cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase activities.
