Desethoxy quetiapine is an active metabolite of the atypical antipsychotic quetiapine . It is formed from quetiapine primarily by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP3A5 and binds to dopamine D2 receptors (IC50 = 1,330 nM). Desethoxy quetiapine (20 and 40 mg/kg) reduces climbing induced by the dopamine receptor agonist apomorphine in mice. It also improves apomorphine-induced swimming deficits in mice.
